Date: Tue, 5 Oct 2004 16:00:31 +0200 (SAST) Subject: Upgrade to Windows XP Pentium 4 Willie, I thought you might be interested in knowing the following: I have a Snappy version 1.0 grabber and the original software disc (a floppy) has developed non recoverable read errors. I also have encountered problems in that on one machine with windows 98 the software works but on another unit which was upgraded for both memory and video board I get a stack overflow when I try to save a file. On a newer version 1.6 gigahertz pentium 4 with windows XP the software won't even intialize. I downloaded the NTSC version of the Snappy software 3.0 deluxe and the 3.0 deluxe patch. When I unzipped it and tried to install it I encountered a "Failed to create bitmap" error. I ignored the error and installed it anyway. Then when the software did not work, I followed up by installing the software patch. The software was then functional on both the older cpu with windows 98 and the newer 1.6 gigahertz pentium 4 with windows xp. The software works perfectly on the original version Snappy and even allows me to save directly into *.jpg files (which I could not do on the original 1.0 software). Of course I don't have the audio features because the original Snappy grabber did not possess that feature. I use the unit to digitatize pictures from a home security system from which I capture vehicle id numbers & other data. When I searched the internet, I did not immediately locate any internal upgrade boards which have the high resolution of the Snappy so the download has saved me both time and money by restoring my system to operation.
